We travelled out to Plenty park on a windy day to play 3rd placed Diamond Creek who have had some big wins. The Creekers won the toss and kicked to the scoring end. The first 10 minutes was a struggle as we adapted to the windy conditions and held them scoreless with some selfless footy and great team work. We then managed to kick a couple of goals against the run of play and this set the scene for the rest of the day.
Again players were tried in several positions which unearthed a couple of surprises. Bonnie ( Daisy) Griffiths rotating thru the midfield was good and Issy (Draps) Drapac held down Centre Half back with composure. Jess Dal Pos went forward and kicked 4 great goals (missed several others!) but created a great target.
With Mei, Gunners, Em Dal Pos, Rechelle and Shan rotating thru the midfield and all doing well, Phungy was left to play in her favorite position the wing and she ripped it up finishing with 3 great goals. With Bree and Loz having to leave at Half time they both played 4 qtrs in 2 and helped get us off to a flyer. Bree was impassable in the backline and Loz’s pace up the ground is fantastic to watch. Tina is playing every game like its her last and it is showing by getting in the best regularly. Abbs and Sarah are both getting back to form after ankle injuries and starting to play some good footy. With young Danni doing to hard tough stuff and new girl Ruby learning the way we play the day turned out favorable for Darebin with a big win.
