We also acknowledge that Australian Rules Football is a contact sport and, as with all physical activity, injuries may occur. We recommend, at minimum, ambulance membership, and where possible, private health insurance.

Darebin Women’s Sports Club also strongly supports AFL Victoria’s Concussion Policy that prohibits return to play for 21 days from head impact when concussion is diagnosed by a medical practitioner, and ceasing participation while a suspected concussion is further assessed.

On registration, Bronze level personal injury insurance is provided through the Marsh National Risk Protection Program.

Registrations close on 30 June.

Child Safety

All care is taken to ensure the safety of children, with all adult volunteers required to have a WWCC and agree to our Code of Conduct & Child Safety Policy. However, training takes place in a public space next to the Merri Creek, and winter training runs under lights when it becomes dark in the surrounding area. If you have any concerns about safety, please remain at the session with your child/ren to supervise.

All players should be picked up from the grassed area in front of the clubrooms. If your child is taking themselves home from training you must let the coach know prior to the session.

If concerns are held for the safety of a child, our child safety officer can be contacted at [email protected].

Consent for use of images for social media or club promotion is provided on registration. If exemption is required please contact [email protected]. When individual images are used, we will seek explicit consent for this purpose. If unhappy with the use of an image, please also contact us to have it removed.

Parent Involvement & Volunteering

As a community club we aim to keep our fees low and utilise fundraising to subsidise the running costs.

We ask that each family assists throughout the season with game day volunteer roles. These include sports trainer (first aid), goal umpire, boundary umpire, team manager, umpire escort, or assisting in the canteen. Without volunteers our community club can’t run successfully!
