Both teams had away matches last weekend, with Div 2 making the long trip to Geelong & Metro having a significantly shorter journey north to Mill Park …

Darebin Falcons Div 2 v North Geelong Warriors SC
HT Score 0 – 0  FT Score 0 – 3
Sunday 20th May 11:00am Kickoff – Away Match

The Div 2 team travelled down the highway to play North Geelong. The past couple of games have seen us welcome several new players – Jenny Black (sweeper), Lucy Parrington (midfield) and our newest addition playing her first game with the club Therese Allaoui (winger). We were also pleased to have our coach Nicky Leitch back playing after an injury sustained in Round 1. Div 2 were also experimenting with a new shape to the team structure. It was a tough, physical game with the North Geelong Keeper thwarting several Darebin  attempts on goal and crashing into forward Jo at a corner. North Geelong counter attacked several times, with Sal Rees making some great saves. Darebin was very pleased with nil – nil at half time.

With the pace and physical nature of the game taking its toll Darebin hung on with only 11 players until 20 mins to go, when 2 great goals by Nth Geelong finished the game. The final score was 3 – 0 with Darebin down to 10 players. Despite the result, Darebin was very pleased with the new shape and structure of the team and felt that we had played well for the majority of the game….

Darebin Falcons Metro v Plenty Valley Lions FC
HT Score 0 – 3  FT Score 0 – 8
Sunday 20th May 1:00pm Kickoff – Away Match

The team arrived at Plenty Valley Lions home ground excited to take on the team which were sitting second on the ladder.

The Falcons were looking forward to Sungsu’s debut, as well as the return of Brenda, making her way back after injury.

It was always going to be a tough game against a younger and fitter side, however in the first half Falcons did extremely well holding them out. Temporary goal keeper Ange, was fantastic, saving many shots which came her way.

The backline were kept busy, while the midfield worked hard to try and get the ball up front to Bren and Sara. A couple of unlucky misses from Bren in the first half saw Falcons trailing by 3-0 at half time.

Unfortunately the Lions didn’t let up, scoring goal after goal. It was great to discover Anita’s talent in centre midfield and Amalyia’s strength on the wing. Falcons gave it their all in the second half, but Plenty Valley were unstoppable, winning 8-0.
