R8 – Versus St Damians

The Darebin youth girls were on song with everything but goal kicking. To keep St Damians to no goals was incredible. No one has done that. Unfortunately we need some practice as we kicked 5.11 – 41 to 3 points. Well done girls.

 R9 Versus Lalor Stars

We kicked of on a sunny but cold day with welcomed but unexpected return of Linnea (Frenchy) Holmer. Frenchy has only played one game and was due back to her homeland France, but managed to get over her angle to take the field with her team mates one last time.

The girls were ready with instructions to share the footy and kick to advantage. This was done in one of the best opening quarters we have had. The girls kicked 5 goals 2 points to 0. Looks like training with Macca paid off and we were away. The best goal came when Frenchy slotted her first for Darebin sparking wild celebrations. Well done Frenchy we will miss you.

The second quarter saw the same as the first with the girl’s field kicking being rewarded by allowing us to have another 7 shots at goal to none. The lead now out to 53 points.

With a healthy lead the girls were moved around in the second half and Frenchy learned defence and Elena playing on the ball all successfully. Bree was absolutely smashing on the ball (Literally) giving us first use. With Jess’s accurate foot disposal our forwards such as Sarah and young Taylah took advantage and kept the ball in our forward line. With Gunners, Alexis, Ash, Issi  and Dal Pos refusing Lalor a shot on goal the second half belonged to Darebin. Our on ballers Shan, Rechelle, Phungy and Whitty began to dominate and gave the opposition plenty of respect but no leeway.

 Final Score

Darebin 10:12 – 72

Lalor       0:01  – 01

Special mention to our Captain who played injured so we had a full side. Also a couple others who had colds but pushed on. This is the reason why we are playing the way we are. All in to support each other and never ever give up. Go Falcons!

There will be No training this week before the bye. Training the following week will be on Wednesday 7th July, at3:00PM. Make sure we all get down there as we are planning a great session followed by a meeting/dinner at 5:30pm. This should finish at around 6:30pm like normal.
