As the sun shone brightly on Robinson’s Reserve, Darebin Falcons Small Sided Football (Soccer) Program hosted under 7’s and under 9’s girls teams from Eltham Redbacks, Yarra Jets, Whittlesea Zebras and Boroondara Eagles last weekend in a girls Gala Day.
There were 60 girls in total taking part, many of them new to the game this year. Each team played three games and all were conducted in a wonderful spirit with the girls giving it their all throughout. Senior Falcons soccer players referereed games and the girls were paid a visit by Melbourne Heart striker and Australian U20 representative Eli Babalji who signed autographs.
It was a great celebration of girls soccer and hopefully just the first of many events like this for the Darebin Falcons Junior Soccer program.
