On a cold morning we lined up against Diamond Creek U 18. With several player back from Vic duties and sickness all was well. The only downer was our Vice Captain Shan with a sore calf muscle who had to sit out today.

The first Quarter saw Darebin come out firing with our midfield dominating thanks to Phoebes who slipped into the ruck spot beautifully. The girls linked up well to keep the ball in our forward line. Our forwards rewarded our works with a 4.1 conversion rate. A great start to the game with one of our best 1st quarters yet.

Qtr  Score:

Darebin        4.1 – 25

Diam Creek  0.0 – 00

The second quarter was probably one of our best quarters bar the goal kicking. We finished up with 2 goals 8 points for the quarter in what was complete domination. Diamond Creek did move the ball into their scoring zone however our defense simply denied them every time. Our defensive unit is really clicking with all girls working together FOR each other. Together with our midfielders pushing back hard Diamond creek found it impossible to score.

Half time:

Darebin              6.9 – 45

Diamond Creek   0.0 – 00

This quarter saw Diamond creek lift their work rate and footy went from end to end with some good footy from both sides. We prevailed with the only goal of the term.

3 Qtr Time:

Darebin             7.9  – 46

Diamond Creek  0.0 –  00

The last quarter (for the home and away season) was played in good spirit with both sides having a dip. Our midfielders ran out the game in style with constant supply forward we were rewarded with a 6 goal term sealing our year undefeated on top of the ladder. Well done to all. The real stuff starts now with a full house expected at training on Wednesday night.

Full time score:

Darebin             13.11 – 89

Diamond Creek   0.0 –   00

Well done to all. Celebrations were conclude with donuts after the game. This was due to the girls being told the previous week that you get Donuts (meaning nothing) for the minor premier. One of our girls who we will keep unanimous, (initials A.G.) got all exited thinking the prize was actual donuts!

Make sure you all keep well over the next week and eat and sleep well in preparation for your first finals appearance.

Go Falcons!
