The Falcons Metro Team travelled to Watsonia Heights hoping to build on some recent good results. With none of the three usual goal keepers available, captain Staci stepped up to take on this the key role.  Alicia, Brenda, Carmen and Niddie who had already played a full game for the Division 2 team stepped in to help out a depleted Metro Team.

With many players playing out of their usual positions, the Falcons took a bit of time to settle and Watsonia were out of the blocks early, scoring first. However the Falcons soon found their rhythm and quickly netted two goals through Brenda and Niddie. Niddie scored once again before half time and the Falcons went into the break 3-1 up. With two players out for the second half, the Falcons were down to 10 players. This was a shock for new player Miranda who had been promised she would get a lot of bench time to ease back into the game! But she acquitted herself well and added some much needed stability to the left hand side. Carmen worked tirelessly in the middle, chasing ball after ball, playing them the feet of hard running Niddie and Kate, and Eva worked solidly in defence. Despite some great saves by Staci, Watsonia were able to score two further goals. However the Falcons were determined that they would not capitulate and spent the last 15 minutes attacking the Watsonia goal. However a further goal was not to be and the Falcons walked away with a somewhat frustrating draw.
The Falcons Metro Team is at home next week to Fawkner SC.
