Captain Caitlin Bunker said the group is aligned on the identity they want to bring into the season.

“As a group, we want to be team-first, committed, driven and hard to play against.”

Alyssa Mifsud - Vice Captain

Vice Captain Alyssa Mifsud highlighted the importance of the program’s connection to the broader Darebin community.

At Darebin, we’re incredibly proud to be a genuinely community-based club. The VFLW program provides our players with the opportunity to compete at the highest level while remaining deeply connected to the broader club environment. This connection strengthens our culture and ensures our players represent the entire Darebin community both on and off the field.

She also emphasised the importance of the club’s pathway and connection to junior players.

Mon De Matteo - Senior Leader

Senior Leader Mon De Matteo said the club’s culture continues to shape both the group and its individuals.

“Darebin is more than just a club — it’s a family that gets behind its players and community. I feel a responsibility to show up, even when things are hard. It’s those qualities that build strong, confident and collaborative players.”

Ruby Langham - Emerging Leader

Emerging Leader Ruby Langham said her introduction to the program reinforced the strength of that environment.

Langham said being named in the leadership group is an opportunity she is determined to embrace.

“It’s a huge honour and something I don’t take lightly. I’m excited to learn from the group and be a voice for all players, particularly the younger ones.”

With a strong leadership group in place, the Falcons head into the 2026 season focused on driving performance, strengthening culture and continuing to build on the club’s proud identity.
