2023 Darebin Falcons VFLW squad continues to attract quality to the state level program.  Building on some of the successes of last year, Coach Kate Tyndall has built a squad with a core group of players continuing to set the bar high, as well as some exciting new young players from Darebin’s pathways Youth Girls, Senior and Division 1 teams.

Arrivals for Darebin include Shannon Egan (Darebin NFNL but also returning Darebin 2017 VFLW premiership player), Mia Giannopoulos (Old Yarra Cobras), Rebecca Goring (Newtown & Chilwell), Sacha Kenna (Darebin NFNL), Zoe Larkins (Redan), Piper Louey (Kew), Julia Phung (Darebin NFNL), Stefania Velona (West Brunswick), Grace Wake (Diamond Creek), and Alesha White (Endeavour Hills).

Re-signed players include Victoria Blackwood, Sabine Cowley du Parquet, Angelica Gogos, Ashleigh Gunn, Paije Kearney, Sally Lynch, Emma Mackay, Karly McNiece, Alyssa Mifsud, Trinity Mills, Steph Normington-Dickens, Sophia Padovano, Mikayla Plunkett, Angelique Reibelt, Simone Ruedin, Millie Shone, Stephanie Simpson, Vanja Smiljanic, and Chloe Weston-Sirett.

Also with some familiar and new faces, the coaching group and support team are well placed to lead the squad.  Head Coach Tyndall continued where she left off in 2023 with an excellent pre-season program, and will start her maternity leave in March.  Shevaun Hogan continues her role as Backline Coach, the 5-time VFL premiership winner now in her 5th season coaching.  Darebin U18 Premiership player Elise Casamento will take up the role of Forward Line Coach.  As a former NFL Coach and school teacher, Elise brings significant strengths in leadership and communication.  From 2022 as development coach, Hayden Pfingus will step up the Midfield Coach role, bringing his sharp skills in match data review and analytics.  The Operations Manager role in 2023 will be Emily Dal Pos, with her extensive experience in football pathways, and apprenticed by substantial coaching and sports administration contributions of both her parents with the Falcons over the years.

The Darebin Falcons VFLW team will be captained by Steph Simpson, her fifth year in this role.  Joining her in the 2023 leadership team will be Alyssa Mifsud, Angelica Gogos, Sally Lynch and Karly McNiece. The group contains significant years with the Falcons, as well as substantial AFLW experience, and emerging leaders.
