R8 Versus Jacana.Again we had to take to the field with only 13 players due to several injuries and a couple playing with injuries. In windy conditions we took the field with some girls playing in different positions and enjoying the challenge. The game was played in great spirit by both sides with some very good passages of play.
Gunners was competing well in the ruck giving Jess and Phungy first use of the footy. Together with Loz and Dal Pos on the wing we continually kept the ball in our forward line where Whitty, Rechelle and Tina combined well for several shots on goal.
Our back line of Elise (Alice) Casa, Issy, Bree and Danni (Yakka) Iacobucci teamed well to continually repel Jacana’s forward thrusts. They did so under pressure and worked well together especially from the last line of defence.
The second half saw the team completely shuffled with Jess playing a blinder in the back line which released Alice forward who immediatly kicked a goal. Mei was always in and under in the midfield and continually got the hard ball out to running players Phungy. Bree and Dal Pos who delivered the ball well into our new forward line.
All up another great TEAM effort by everyone. We need to keep this going and hang on until the following players come back from injuries:
Sarge, Bonnie, Sarah, Abbs, Shannon. wow what a bench we will have in about a months time!! Not sure they will get a game though with the current form shown by the girls on the park at the moment!
