The Darebin Women’s Sports Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Mitch Skelly as the Club’s VFLW Senior Coach for the 2020 season.

Mitch joins the Falcons with extensive experience in women’s football having held senior coaching roles with the Wandsworth Demons (UK) women’s team and with Heidelberg’s women’s team in their inaugural season in the Northern Football Netball League.

After an exhaustive interview process, Club President Sarah Brady, believes the incoming coach is the right fit for the Club.

“We are thrilled to have Mitch on board. He has a great understanding of our unique environment as a standalone women’s club as well as where our playing group is at and where we want to go.

He has a proven track record in how to coach women and how to get the best out of women at all levels. Most importantly though, we believe his experience and background really aligns with our club culture and mission. We are looking forward to seeing what Mitch can do with our group in 2020.”

After a long association with football as both a player and a coach, Mitch is looking forward to taking the reins of the VFLW program in 2020.

“I’m really excited to take on this role at Darebin. I’ve been involved with footy for a long time and I have always heard great things about the Falcons’ culture.

I’m really looking forward to the challenge of stepping into the VFLW space and growing with this group of players. I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity and I can’t wait to get started!”

The Club will hold a VFLW information night in the clubrooms at AH Capp Reserve for all current and prospective VFLW players on Thursday 14 November at 7:00pm.

Pre-Season training begins for all senior football players on Tuesday 19 November. Training will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at AH Capp Reserve at 6:30pm.
