The Darebin Falcons, we are committed to providing an inclusive and safe space for all players, supporters, parents and volunteers. That’s why we are so honoured to take part in the VFLW Pride Match each year.

This year, in addition to the Pride Match, there are a heap of different events to celebrate the LGBTIQA+ community. Below is a list of all of the amazing events, and ways you can support the Falcons this Pride Round. Hope to see you at one, or all of the below!

PRIDE: Our untold stories of women’s football

Join us for a wonderful night of fine food and inspirational guest speakers – discussing their stories of community, belonging, and breaking down taboos. Stories of PRIDE.

The Falcons have fielded women’s football teams since 1990 and back then, women’s footy was largely invisible. So too were LGBTIQA+ women. Falcons’ women have helped make the invisible, visible. Our extraordinary guest speakers have been front and centre of the transformation of women’s footy into the AFLW franchise is it today. We are honoured to share their stories.

This is an opportunity not to be missed! Places are extremely limited.

Special Guests:

  • Sal Rees, Founding Falcon and her story of the 1995 AFL draft
  • Darcy Vescio: Falcon and Carlton AFLW star
  • Julia Chiera: Falcons VFLW Assistant Coach, Carlton AFLW Welfare Manager, former player & former Club President
  • Patty Kinnersly: Former Falcon player, Carlton FC Board Member, CEO Our Watch
  • MC – Emma Race (Outer Sanctum Podcast and Proud Falcon Mum)
