Daisy Pearce’s contribution to women’s football has been recognised with the VFL Women’s best and fairest award being struck in her honour.

AFL Victoria announced that on Monday September 10, the player adjudged the best and fairest for the 2018 VFL women’s season will be the inaugural recipient of the Lambert Pearce Medal.

The award is named after Helen Lambert, a founding committee member of the Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) and Darebin’s own Daisy Pearce.

Pearce herself is a record six-time winner of the Helen Lambert Medal in the VWFL competition. She was also the inaugural winner of the VFL Women’s Best and Fairest award back in 2016.

While Pearce’s list of individual honours is certainly impressive, Darebin people know that team success is what drives her. The ultimate team player, selfless leader and a Premiership player ten times over, Pearce epitomises what it means to ‘play to the jumper’. Her impact on our Club and the greater game is undeniable.
