We are excited to announce our partnership agreement with YMCA Victoria. This new partnership will help both organisations drive their common goal of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in the Darebin community, with an overriding focus on women.
Richard Quail, YMCA Darebin Area Manager, said he was thrilled with the partnership and the boost it will give to community engagement.
“Thanks to this agreement between the YMCA and Darebin Falcons, our members will receive benefits such as connection to the only standalone Women’s VFL club in the competition, a club producing numerous AFLW players. This connection ensures the young girls in our Swim Lesson, Tennis and other programs know that the community is supporting them to overcome barriers and inequities that they face in sport and sporting clubs”
Head of Senior Football at the Darebin Falcons, Alison Smirnoff said: “Our club is very excited to have YMCA come on board as a partner alongside Darebin City Council’s recent vote of support through partnership. This is a significant partnership for the club, a move that will assist in growing the club’s reputation, membership, attendances and profile in and throughout the Darebin community.”
“Injury prevention and treatment, rehab and recovery are a critical part of any sport and high intensity environment. Having access to great facilities is essential for keeping players in the best shape and condition on the field. This agreement gives our staff and senior VFL players access to the YMCA-managed Darebin facilities at Northcote Aquatic and Darebin Stadium, boosting our rehab and recovery sessions to further strengthen our high performance program.”

We hope that together with the YMCA, we can get more girls, more active, more often and to break down the barriers faced by organisations trying to increase community participation.
