A few of the Falcons began the day serving up hot pancakes for the junior players and their mums taking part in a mothers day mother/daughter match in the pouring rain (pictured left). Parents were thrilled when we obliged to their five year old’s request of maple syrup, jam and sugar on one pancake!
Keen to take advantage of the first round both teams were at home, we were eager to cheer on our fellow Falcons in the Division Two game. Unfortunately the referee was a no show for the Div 2 game so the match was abandoned.
Darebin Falcons Metro v Tullamarine City FC FT Score 1- 1
Sunday 13th May 1:15pm Kickoff – Home Match
Assuming both matches were due to have the same referee, it wasn’t looking good for the Metro game. 20 players and supporters huddled undercover while the opposition warmed up in the rain. 10 minutes after the official kick off time, the ref rocks up ready to go.
After much delay the game finally began, Falcons versus Tullamarine City. Along with Amalyia making her debut, Jazz and Nyssa were kind enough to lend their legs from the Division Two team.
The game was fairly even, with both teams having opportunities on goal. Sal did well to keep a clean sheet in the first half with the help of Jas and Staci running a tight ship at the back.
After 10 minutes of being on the pitch, sister team Nyssa and Jaz got through the backline to score Falcon’s fourth goal of the season. Falcons were 1-0 up at half time.
Tullamarine didn’t give up though, and scored the equalising goal mid second half. A disappointing result for the Falcons who had lead most of the game. Looking forward to beating them at their home ground in front of their very vocal supporters second time around.
