With the inaugural AFL Women’s season set to launch, we’ll see plenty of Falcons on the big stage over the next two months. The Darebin Women’s Sports Club proudly had 16 players selected by AFL clubs.

Carlton:

Lauren Arnell (captain), Darcy Vescio and Nat Exon.

GWS Giants:

Jess Dal Pos (leadership group)

Melbourne:

Melissa Hickey (vice-captain), Elise O’Dea (vice-captain), Brooke Patterson, Karen Paxman, Daisy Pearce (captain) and Lauren Pearce.

Western Bulldogs:

Libby Birch, Katie Brennan (captain), Nicole Callinan (leadership group), Meghan McDonald, Aasta O’Connor and Kate Tyndall

The Falcons influence doesn’t end there though! Our senior coach Jane Lange is an assistant coach at Carlton and our strength and conditioning coach James McConnell has taken up the strength and conditioning role at the Western Bulldogs.

Back at ‘The Nest’, pre-season training has resumed for the rest of the Falcons and our VFL side have their eyes set on the grand final re-match against Melbourne Uni in round one on Saturday May 6. Click here to view the 2017 Swisse VFL Women’s fixture.
